Birding Destinations 2006
November 6th - November 21st
The Birding Destinations Best Practices Mission took place on November 7 - 11, 2006, in Point Pelee National Park, Ontario. The mission dealt with topics such as marketing, promoting the birding experience to tour groups, and packaging birding with B&B’s. The mission incorporated tours and seminars designed to effectively expose quality birding experiences.
-The business of birding and the understanding of the challenges in serving this market were clearly presented by the good variety of resource people
-In particular the availability of Tom Hince to the group was seen as the equivalent of taking a university semester course in birding in two days.
-A lot was learned technically about birding and about a destination struggling to renew itself and serve a changing more sophisticated birding market
