Festivals & Events April 2008
This mission visited a destination that promotes festivals and events, whereby the city and the province have collectively made festival and events a key attraction throughout the year for tourists and locals. Participants were exposed to a destination that has excelled at developing, attracting, and promoting festivals and events. Initiatives included marketing, planning and co-ordination of events, community involvement/partnerships and how the local economy benefits from these festivals and events.
This mission visited Edmonton, Alberta, April 22 - 25, 2008.
•Participants were very satisfied with the overall mission leaving with reviews such as “I was very impressed by the enthusiasm displayed be each of the presenters and their love for their particular event or responsibility… I was simply impressed by all and especially how well the entire mission was organized and presented.”
•The group received new ideas for marketing, planning and co-ordination of events, community involvement/partnerships, and how the local economy benefits from these festivals and events.
•Additionally, the rare opportunity to be exposed to successful festivals and events allowed the operators to see how others operate behind the scenes and relate this to their own operations.
•Overall, this mission was viewed to be very educational and all involved will be bringing new ideas to their operations that will only increase the vitality of their respective festivals/events. This invaluable information will help grow their community and Atlantic Canada as a whole.
